Top 8 Books most similar to the Percy Jackson series

If you're a fan of Percy Jackson, you probably appreciate his adventures for being filled with comedy, mythical monsters, and a plenty of action.

But, once you've completed all the novels in the series, you may question what to read next.

I have produced a list of eight amazing books that are equally thrilling and as enchanting as the Percy Jackson series.

The Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan

In my opinion, those who like Percy Jackson will also appreciate The Kane Chronicles.

Carter and Sadie Kane find that they are ancient Egyptian magicians and must save the world from doom in this series. Similar to Percy Jackson, the plot combines humor and action, and the sibling bond is as appealing as the comedy and banter that goes on between Percy, Grover and his other freinds. The central topic of the novel is the concept of family and the extent to which one will go to defend it. The culture and mythology of ancient Egypt are woven throughout the text, making it a unique and captivating read and the perfect story to five into after finishing the Percy Jackson novels.

The Iron Trial by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare

Holly Black and Cassandra Clare's Magisterium trilogy features twelve-year-old Callum Hunt, who has been advised his whole life to avoid magic. Nevertheless, after failing his Iron Trial, he finds himself in a magical school with a gang of friends and rivals.

Similar to Percy Jackson, the series is set in a school where the students learn magic and refine their talents, and there are, of course, magical monsters prowling about.

But don't be fooled by the similarities; The Iron Trial has its own distinctive plot twists that clearly distinguish it from previous magical school stories. The authors address themes of fate and self-discovery while keeping readers on the edge of their seats with a riveting storyline.

Callum is a thoroughly charming protagonist who is easy to cheer for as he learns the mysteries of the Magisterium, and both his allies and adversaries are nuanced and intriguing.

The Iron Trial is a fantastic suggestion for Percy Jackson lovers seeking a fresh magical school adventure.

Fablehaven by Brandon Mull

Fablehaven by Brandon Mull is the first book in a trilogy that follows Kendra and Seth as they spend the summer with their grandfather, who maintains a secret magical creature preserve.

The story concentrates on magical creatures in a way similar to that of Percy Jackson and provides a well-developed universe with numerous secrets and hurdles for the protagonist to conquer. The tale explores accountability, bravery, and the consequences of one's actions.

Due to its charming characters and fascinating setting, Fablehaven is an extremely captivating read and a great option for fans of the Percy Jackson series.

The Amulet of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud

A young boy named Nathaniel is about to embark on a journey that will test his abilities and morals in a world where powerful demons are summoned to perform the bidding of magicians. The Amulet of Samarkand, the first book in Jonathan Stroud's Bartimaeus Trilogy, is an enthralling tale of vengeance, power, and corruption that will have readers on the edge of their seats. Nathaniel recruits the demon Bartimaeus to aid him in taking vengeance on a great magician, and the two unlikely partners must navigate the treacherous worlds of magic and politics to accomplish their goal.

The Amulet of Samarkand focuses largely on magic and magical beings and is loaded with action and smart humour, much like Percy Jackson. In a society where power reigns supreme, the characters struggle to maintain their principles. The Amulet of Samarkand is a must-read for anybody who appreciates magic, adventure, and moral conundrums owing to its skillfully designed world-building, layered characters, and clever plot.

Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos by R.L. LaFevers

Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos is the first book of a trilogy by R.L. LaFevers. The narrative centers on Theodosia Throckmorton, a young woman with the capacity to perceive ancient curses and artifacts that are invisible to others. The work concentrates on mythology and ancient civilizations and is loaded with action and adventure, much like Percy Jackson. The work explores family, friendship, and the relevance of history, and its protagonist, Theodosia, is strong and intelligent. Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos is an excellent alternative for lovers of Percy Jackson owing to its captivating plot and well-developed characters.

The Beyonders by Brandon Mull

"The Beyonders" by Brandon Mull is a young adult fantasy novel about an adolescent named Jason who is transported to a strange world called Lyrian. In this world, he meets Rachel, and the two go on a mission to slay the dreadful Emperor Maldor and liberate Lyrian from his rule.

It is an excellent book for lovers of the Percy Jackson series since it has similar themes, such as a young hero journeying to a magical land and overcoming formidable difficulties to protect it. Both of these shows deal with friendship, loyalty, and sacrifice and include a diverse cast of characters and entities. The plot of "The Beyonders" is also well-crafted, with a number of unexpected twists that keep the reader engaged throughout the narrative.

The Last Dragon Chronicles by Chris d'Lacey

The Last Dragon Chronicles by Chris d'Lacey is set in a universe where dragons exist in human form. Our protagonist, David, was unaware that his new roommate, Liz, was actually a dragon in disguise. When he finds her true identity, David is thrown into a wonderful world of magic, wonder, and adventure.

Like with Percy Jackson, this series centers on magical creatures, with dragons playing a key part. The Last Dragon Chronicles examines themes such as environment, family, and the power of storytelling while transporting readers to a world filled with mystery, action, and adventure.

The Last Dragon Chronicles is defined by its lovable characters, intricate plot, and innovative world-building. When David and Liz overcome the hurdles that come with belonging to two radically different worlds, the audience will root for them. This series is strongly suggested for everyone seeking a new magical journey. This series is sure to captivate both young and old readers due to its captivating narrative and finely constructed atmosphere.

The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel by Michael Scott

The series of six young adult fantasy novels titled "The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel" by Michael Scott follows the adventures of two teenage twins, Josh and Sophie Newman, who discover they are the key to an ancient prophecy and become embroiled in a magical conflict between good and evil.

The series is set in modern-day San Francisco, but extensively pulls from mythology and history, with characters such as Nicholas Flamel, the alchemist who found the key to endless life. As the book unfolds, the twins learn to harness their magical abilities and battle the mighty Dark Elders, who want to destroy the planet.

Both series address the convergence of mythology and current life, including characters from diverse mythical traditions and investigating the interactions between gods and people, making it an excellent read for fans of the Percy Jackson series. The series offers a broad array of characters, including both supernatural creatures and regular people with special skills. Furthermore, the series is fast-paced and action-packed, with several plot twists that keep the reader interested throughout the volumes.
